US Army brigade team begins "crowd control" mission from Ft. Stewart

There's a phenomenal interview from the Democracy NOW! broadcast from October 7, 2008. Amy Goodman interviews Col. Michael Boatner, Future Operations division chief of USNORTHCOM, and Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive magazine regarding the shocking news that the US Army 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Team has been assigned an active duty role in, as the Army Times put it, “civil unrest and crowd control.”

Dump Saxby!

I have created a flyer for distribution to voters all over Georgia. Please feel free to copy and leaflet your districts widely. Here's the text:

DUMP SAXBY!

On October 1, Georgia's senior Senator, Saxby Chambliss, voted to give $850,000,000,000 of your tax dollars to Wall Street banksters who caused the economic crisis in the first place with reckless mortgage loans and dubious investments.

Here we go again...

The Senate is planning to take up the bailout on Wednesday. Technically, I suppose it is not a violation of Article I Section 7 for it to do so, since this is not a bill for raising revenue, but rather, flushing it down the toilet.

But, beware! Georgia Representative Jack Kingston has an alternative plan that, while it sounds a little more reasonable, will put the taxpayers in the same situation.

I see this as a "Third Way" plan that is, like all compromises of free market principles, doomed to lead us down the path of increasing socialism.

Tell Congress: NO BAILOUTS!

This suggestion comes from our great friends Tim and Jonna Ryan in Cartersville. It is imperative that we all act now, and keep it up. Our republic is at risk. At the very least, we risk a Greater Depression by nationalizing the debt of investment banks and mortgage lenders. Please, follow the advice below, tailored to your own representatives and local media.

A Dissenting Opinion on I.O.U.S.A., by Fritz Adam

Following Jerry DeMarce's comments on the film I.O.U.S.A., Fritz Adam raised some interesting counterpoints. These may signal why Buffett didn't appear too worried about the state of the world--perhaps because the US Government and its central bank have the world by the short hairs and the world knows it. Perhaps, but nevertheless, I have the feeling we will all go together when we go. (And I think we're going to need a bit more exposition on this "kind of new fuel". Sounds intriguing, but if it's anything like fusion energy, we've got a while to wait.)

Review of I.O.U.S.A. by Jerry DeMarce

Jerry DeMarce forwarded his review of the film I.O.U.S.A., which a number of us in the Georgia Freedom Network went to see at its nationwide premiere last night. I mostly appreciated the sentiment behind the film, but I think Jerry's comments were dead on.

Crisis '83: The Council on Foreign Relations and the Libertarian Party

I stumbled across this gem by Howard Katz and enjoyed it so much that I reformatted it for easy reading. It originally appeared in The Libertarian Forum. Katz describes the near-election of a member of the C.F.R. as the Libertarian Party's presidential candidate. The essay itself is both a clear-eyed expose of the C.F.R. and the Trilateral Commission as well as a statement of libertarian principles.

Hoist the R3VOLUTION Flag!

Ron Paul proves once again that he is the only politician in D.C. who knows anything about the economy; that is, the only one who both knows and tells the truth about it. Take a look at these clips from his latest battle against Helicopter Ben Bernanke, plus the recap on CNBC's Kudlow and Company.

We Lost.

Jerry DeMarce put it best in his email to me describing the Senate's passage of the telecom immunity and FISA overhaul. It was never about the money, or even holding telecoms accountable for the orders of the Bush Administration, although they knew their actions were illegal. The lawsuits were about finding out how wide the dragnet was cast in sifting through our communications.
